Christine Nobbe of the in Ellisville was named a Peabody Logos Leader in Education for the 2011-12 school year, and awarded $1,000 for her compassion and commitment to students.
As gifted education specialist, Nobbe inspires advanced students to explore science and mathematics and create new ideas. Her lessons on robots and lunar exploration have been recognized as national models in curriculum design. She works to ensure gender equality in science and mathematics, and encourages young girls to be passionate about scientific learning. With a passion for professional development, Nobbe serves as an adjunct professor at Webster University, instructing educators on creativity, curriculum design and how to effectively reach out to students. She is an advocate for gifted education, serving on the board for the National Association of Gifted Children.
On Thursday, Jan. 12, members of The Peabody Logos Leaders in Education program surprised Nobbe in her classroom with news of the award and a check for $1,000.

The Peabody Logos Leaders in Education program rewards dedicated education professionalsβfrom teachers and coaches to librarians and counselorsβwho inspire and motivate youth to succeed. Award recipients are selected throughout the school year by a committee of top educators and business leaders.

Β In partnership with Logos School, the Leaders program was developed in Missouri in 2009, and reflects Peabodyβs commitment to make a positive impact in the communities where the companyβs employees live and work by honoring those who inspire students. The 2011-2012 award program is continuing to accept nominations and is open to educational professionals of public, private and independent schools in designated communities where Peabody Energy employees live and work. Nominations may be made at PeabodyEnergyLeadersInEducation.org.
Winners are selected from a diverse group of educators. They can range from veteran teachers to individuals in support staff roles such as administrators, coaches or counselors.
