Hearing On Mayor's Status Delayed; No Interest In Auditor Run

A judge is now slated to hear motions regarding Ellisville Mayor Adam Paul in July.

A Wednesday motion hearingΒ to reconsider a judge's decision to issue a stay allowing Ellisville Mayor Adam Paul to return to office following his impeachment earlier this year has been delayed a second time.

An attorney forΒ Ellisville sought the motion to reconsider, as well as a chance to get guidance about the status of votes made by Mayor Paul in the interim period as a judge fully reviews if Paul's due process rights were violated during the removal proceedings. City officials were also looking for guidance as it pertains to the special election for MayorΒ called for November.

But earlier this week, Thomas Debold, the resident suing the city of Ellisville over the Conditional Use Permit issued for the proposed Walmart development, filed a motion to strike the request to reconsider.

Debold's attorney, Jane Dueker, confirmed that the new hearing was set for July 1 at 10 a.m.

Reached Wednesday afternoon, Paul said it was his understanding that the judge in the case would need to review Debold's motion to strike before he could review the motion to reconsider.

Also Wednesday, Paul responded to a speculative piece in The Missouri Times suggesting he could be a possible Democratic PartyΒ candidate for Missouri State Auditor in 2014.

"One wild card that exists is Ellisville Mayor Adam Paul. We are not entirely sure of his party affiliation, but his enemies in Ellisville made him a statewide name with a very compelling story," wroteΒ Β Scott Faughn, PublisherΒ of The Missouri Times.

Paul declined to discuss his political party affiliation, which is not required of political candidates at the municipal level, but he said there has been "no discussion," and "no interest" in the Auditor's race.

"No way I would jump ship for a different political position," Paul said by phone Wednesday.
