At a recent Manchester Board of Aldermen meeting, Parkway South seniors Leela Chapman and Bradley Gleason were both recognized for receiving perfect ACT scores. Mayor David Willson presented each of them with a plaque honoring their accomplishments. According to the Parkway School District, 36 is the highest possible score on the ACT college admissions and placement exam. "Nationally, while the actual number of students earning a composite score of 36 varies from year to year, less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score of 36. In 2011, more than 1.6 million students took the ACT exam," Parkway stated in a news release. The ACT consists of tests in English, math, reading and science and is scored on a scale of 1-36. A student's composite score is the average of all four test scores, Parkway stated in the release. The purpose of the test is to assess a student's general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The tests scores play a significant role in a student's college admissions process.
