A man was charged July 13 with trying to cut another man with a box cutter in an Ellisville bar. Nicholas Pontello, 21, of the 200 block of Hilltop Drive in , faces a second-degree assault charge. said the man had been banned from Alibi 25, a bar and grill in the Maple Tree Center at 15856 Clayton Road, but he arrived there about 10:45 p.m. July 12. According to police, employees and at least one patron tried to convince him to leave peacefully. According to the report, Pontello swung a box cutter at one of the employees, missing his head by inches. The blade was exposed. Bond was set for Pontello at $20,000.
