Readers Weigh In On Pierside Lane Traffic Troubles

The Ellisville City Council plans more discussion this week about solutions to neighborhood concerns about vehicle traffic.

The Ellisville City Council plans more discussion this week about solutions to one neighborhood concerns about vehicle traffic. Residents on Pierside Lane won concessions last month, including painting the 25 mile per hour speed limit on the road, and placing a "USE LOW GEAR" sign on the street. City staff is alsoΒ working on an ordinance that would double fines in the area as well.

Patch readers andΒ Facebook fansΒ have chimed in with their reaction to the situation.

"Suck it up i have lived on Hutchinson Rd. for 30 years the biggest cut through in Ellisville. If you don't like the street MOVE," commented Marty James.

"Why do people who choose to live on a main street, suddenly become surprised that there are cars on it? Seriously!" said Jenny Unger.

Last month's council discussion included talk of No Thru Traffic signs in the neighborhood, for the morning rush/school commute timeframe. It will continue again Wednesday night. Residents could have new fuel to push for it thanks to a minor traffic accident last Tuesday on Pierside when a vehicle, allegedly a commercial truck,Β rear-ended aΒ bus. Ten students were on the bus but there were no injuries.

Larry Tipton commented on FacebookΒ about the possibility of a No-Thru policy andΒ askedΒ "Does that street get maintained using St. Louis County funds? Because if I'm paying for it, I sure as hell ought to be able to drive on it if I choose."
