Retirement Community Surveillance Camera Leads to Arrest of Ballwin Woman

Police said an employee at the Mari de Villa Retirement Community in West County was arrested for theft thanks to surveillance video.

PatchΒ contacted police after we were alerted to this incident at the Mari de Villa Retirement Community, 13900 Clayton Road in Town and Country, by an email from a Patch reader.

Police tell Patch, a resident of Mari de Villa told management on April 19Β that they were the victim of theft. Detectives met with Mari de Villa staff that same day and began the investigation, authorities stated.

According to investigators, a surveillance camera identified the theft suspect on April 22 who was then arrestedΒ on April 23Β when she arrived for work.

Town and Country police said she is 39-year old woman from the 100 block ofΒ Gilla DriveΒ in Ballwin. She reportedly worked for the retirement community for six years.

Authorities said she is suspected of stealing from the resident for several months before the theft was reported.

She was released pending application of warrants from the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorneys Office, police stated.
