Man Dead, Reportedly Shot By Mother In Ballwin Overnight

A man has died after being shot by his mother during an overnight incident in Ballwin.

An 81-year-old woman shot and killed her 41-year-old son early this morning at the mother's residence in the 700 block of Clayworth Drive, Ballwin police said in a statement.

The shooting occurred around 1 a.m. today, police said. In the statement Ballwin police said they got the call from Johanna Walker, 81, who was wounded in her right hand. Her son, Brian Walker, was found with gunshot wounds in his upper torso, police said.

Both were taken to Mercy Hospital, where Brian Walker was pronounced dead shortly before 2 p.m. His mother was admitted; police said her injuries were not life threatening.

Johanna Walker told police her son had attacked and injured her with a large knife. When he came at her a second time, police said, she shot him twice in the upper torso. A large fixed-blade knife and a revolver were seized from the residence.

Accordng to FOX 2 Thursday morning, the incident happened around 1 a.m. ThursdayΒ at a home at Clayworth and Ruthwood, near Highway 141. The 41-year-old son reportedly attacked his 81-year-old mother with a knife and then the mother shot the son twice in the upper body, FOX 2 reports.

The son apparenlty lived at the home with his mother. He was was taken to an area hospital, but died an hour after arriving there, Ballwin Police tell Patch.

The shooting occurred in theΒ 700 block of Clayworth, within Ballwin near Manchester.

The mother is still being treated at a hospital for a knife wound to her hand. No charges have been filed in connection with the incident.

FOX 2 also reports police were called the home for shots fired within the past year.

Ballwin Police say they are having trouble notifying next of kin in the case, which will delay releasing the names of those involved.
