Update: Walmart TIF Notes Now On Ellisville Council Agenda
Council members had been asked to vote to rescind a redevelopment agreement that would bring the big box retailer to Manchester Road.

Updated 3:26 p.m.
A revised agenda for the Ellisville City Council meeting slated for Wednesday night now includes a vote to approve issuing Tax Increment Financing notes for the proposed Walmart development project.
City Manager Kevin Bookout could not be reached for comment Monday about the change.
A previous version of this story indicated that a vote to rescind the redevelopment agreement for the project was not on the meeting agenda.
That item is on the 6:15 p.m.Β work session agenda for discussion.
Original Story:
Despite pleas from opponents of the proposed EllisvilleΒ Walmart TIF project, Ellisville's City Council agenda for Wednesday night will not include a move to rescind the city's agreement with the developer on the project.
After an attorney for plaintiffs suing the city over the conditional use permit issued for the project tried to convince city leaders last week that the developer was in breach of an agreement with the city, Mayor Adam Paul said he would support putting a motion to rescind it on the next agenda.Β
Wednesday's meeting agenda was posted Friday and includes no mention of the agreement. Paul could not be reached for comment.
But also not on the agenda is an important next step in the Walmart process. An attorney for The Sansone Group told council members last month that it had little but to vote to issue Tax Increment Financing (TIF) notes. Not doing so, John Hessel told council in May, could open city council members up to a lawsuit.Β The council delayed action last week that would have selected a special counsel to advise council members on what to do with the TIF notes. Neither the selection of counsel or a vote on issuing the notes is on Wednesday's agenda.
