After filing many of its city permits for stores under generic names such as "Tenant 121," Taubman Prestige Outlets has officially released the list of stores that will debut on or shortly afterΒ its Aug. 2 opening.Β

According to a newly revamped website, there will initially be 45 businessesΒ at the 310,000 square-foot complex, which is expected to haveΒ a total capacity ofΒ 70.Β Β

Although this means that there will likely be some empty storefronts come opening day,Β General Manager Colleen O'Neill said the outlet center is "80 percent leased and committed" and that they will be continuing toΒ announce more retailers.Β

Taubman Prestige Outlets is located on the east end of Chesterfield Valley at the Boone's Crossing exit on I-64. A competing outlet mall,Β Simon Property Group's St. Louis Prestige Outlets, will open on the west end of the Valley on Aug. 22.Β

For its part, Simon officials recentlyΒ told the St. Louis Post-DispatchΒ that they are 100 percent committed with 90 stores. The website for St. Louis Premium OutletsΒ actually lists more than 100 retailers, nearly all of which are expected to be open on Aug. 22.Β

O'Neill said that Taubman is introducing many outlet stores new to the St. Louis market including Polo Ralph Lauren, Restoration Hardware and Steve Madden. Uno de 50, a Spanish accessories retailer, will open their first U.S. outlet location at Taubman Prestige Outlets.Β

They also have partnerships with several local retailers,Β including the first outlet outpost for downtown St. Louis co-opΒ The CollectiveΒ andΒ handbag and custom jewelry shop Mark Anthony Collection.

The company will hold an opening celebration Aug. 2-4, which coincides with Missouri Tax Free Weekend, with giveaways, a ribbon cutting ceremony, musical entertainment and sales. Β Β
