Annie Gunn's Wine Director Learned Passion While Serving in the Army

Glenn Bardgett wears an unusual pair of pants, adorned with wine-themed images and icons, and reveals that he learned his passion for wine, of all places, while he was a grunt in the Army stationed in Hawaii, in a profile published by the St. Louis Business Journal.

The wine director for Annie Gunn's restaurant tells us about his passion in the Journal article, which takes us behind the scenes of the restaurant and its 900 wines from 16 countries.

Bardgett, of Maryland Heights, has been the wine director at Annie Gunn's for 12 years and has won awards, including a semifinalist for "outstanding wine service" by the James Beard Foundation.

"It struck me that wine is history, and it’s family, and it’s agriculture, and it’s economics, and it’s politics, and it’s geography," Bardgett told the Business Journal. "All these different aspects of life are involved with wine."
