Chesterfield Board Nixes Ex-Dairy Queen Paint Job

 has to get rid of its blue and gold-ish stripes on the former Dairy Queen building at Woods Mills and Olive Boulevard, after  said "no."

Apparently, first painted over the Dairy Queen beige/brown/white with the more eye-popping stripes, but it didn't pass muster.

Tuesday, the bright stripes were already painted over with what looked like white primer—something likely necessary to cover the intense hues with a beige tone.

The restaurant-to-be is essentially returning to its former color, city staff said. The bright red awnings are a non-issue.

The drive-thru aspect of the restaurant is still available for use, city staff said, since it was approved for the building before. It was unclear whether that feature was going to be put back into service with KimCheese.

City staff said KimCheese was "working with" the city to rectify the color scheme, and that they could take the time as needed. 

However, the restaurant would still need other permits in order to open, staff said. No opening date is set for the eatery.

The long-gone Dairy Queen and now KimCheese is located at 13435 Olive Boulevard.
