Chesterfield Pedestrian Killed Along I-70 Near Wentzville

A 49-year-old man apparently stepped in front of a moving truck on the highway, police said.

A Chesterfield man, Christopher P. Grimes, 49,Β died Saturday after he was hit by a truck onΒ Interstate 70 near Wentzville.

Officials said Grimes was on foot, walking along the typically busy interstate highway, when he stepped in front of a moving truck.

The 2005 Freighliner truck, driven by Timothy C. Aldridge, 46, of Camilla, GA, was eastbound on I-70.Β

According to theΒ Missouri State Highway Patrol,Β the accident occurred at 4 p.m. Saturday just east of the 205 mile marker on I-70.

The pedestrian, Grimes, was pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel. His body was taken to the St. Louis County morgue.Β

The driver of the truck was wearing a seat belt, according to theΒ report.
