Chesterfield U-Gas Receives Initial Approval from City Council

The proposed gas station, convenience store and drive-thru restaurant would be located near the intersection of Chesterfield Airport Road and Long Road.

A new gas station and drive-thru restaurant planned for Chesterfield Valley has received an initial blessing from the Chesterfield City Council.

The U-Gas convenience store will be located at the intersection of Chesterfield Airport Road and Long Road in a vacant lot that used to be the home of a hardware store. The project received some opposition when it was first announced over traffic concerns and from owners of nearby gas stations worried that it would damage their bottom line.

On Monday, the city council gave unanimous approval for the first reading of an ordinance that will amend the site’s zoning and allow the project to move forward. The zoning change provides for a variety of business uses but was amended to exclude a check cashing facility.

The U-Gas would be situated on the north side of Chesterfield Airport Road across from the BP/McDonalds and just west of the Lou Fusz dealership. If the project does require that the existing median on Chesterfield Airport Road needs to be extended, possibly to address traffic concerns, the developer will be responsible for all costs.

U-Gas has not yet announced what restaurant will be operating the drive-thru portion of the project.Β
