Chesterfielders Win Some Top Honors at State Fair

Beekeeper's honey and Home Arts beat the competition statewide, so far.

As the 109thΒ Missouri State FairΒ rolls on through Sunday in Sedalia, Chesterfield has two winners in statewide competition, so far. Entrants starting turning in products by early July.

Theodore Jansen of Three Rivers Bee KeepersΒ takes home ribbons in the honey catagory:

  • First Place - Light/Amber extracted honey
  • Second Place - Dark extracted honey

(A Valley Park resident, Michael Godfrey, won Grand Champion in Dark extracted honey.)

Nancy E. Zykan is a top winner in the Home Economics/Household Arts division.Β The category appeared to be expert sewing and other handiwork:

  • Champion - Best in Wee Care Gown
  • First Place - Wee Care Gown

The fair runs Aug. 11-21.Β The fair has plenty of entertainment on the Pepsi and Budweiser stages, in addition to competitions from tractor pulls, to dance contests, to Queen of the Fair, to rabbits, livestock and so much more.Β 

Mizzou Junior Meredith Jones , of Dawn, MO was named Queen on Aug. 12.
