St. Lukes Doctor Reportedly Admits Overbilling Medicaid, Medicare

A doctor who reportedly worked at both St. Lukes Hospital and Des Peres Hospital pleaded guilty to federal health care fraud Wednesday.

According to theΒ St. Louis Post-Dispatch,Β Dr. Wit A.Β Jamry, 62,Β admitted billing Medicare and Medicaid for services he had not performed.

According to a Des Peres Hospital spokesperson, the physician was not employed by the hospital.

"He is an independent physician who was on staff, but we had nothing to do with his practice," the hospital spokesperson stated toΒ Patch.

Quoting from the Post story:

"Jamry admitted that from 2007 to 2011, he and his practice billed for Jamry's time while he was actually out of town or out of the country. Jamry was away on trips to Atlanta, Poland and Mexico at the time he made 276 false claims worth more than $26,000, court documents claim."

According to Dr. Jamry's websiteΒ the doctor specializes in geriatrics andΒ practiced at St. Luke's Hospital and Des Peres Hospital.
