Former Monarch Board member Rick Gans has launched a bid to reclaim the seat he lost in 2011.  Gans has been a critic of the Monarch Fire Protection District since leaving office and in the past has particularly butted heads with current board president Kim Evans. It's Evans seat that will be expiring in April. Evans has served as a MFPD director for the past 5-1/2 years. Evans, Gans and Russ Lake have filed for the seat since last Tuesday. Lake is a local businessman who served on Monarch's Citizens' Advisory Committee for the agency's budget.
