Ellisville 'Best Buy' Closing, Shoppers Sent To Chesterfield

When shoppers arrived at the Best Buy Saturday, they were told the store was closed and referred to other nearby stores. The store is open for business Sunday as it prepares to shut down for good.

The store was closed Saturday but reopened Sunday with 20 percent markdowns.

As previously reported in March byΒ Chesterfield Patch,Β Best BuyΒ isΒ .Β Most of the targeted stores willΒ permanently close by May 12.

In the midst of all the store closures, the company's former CEO Brian DunnΒ Β and isΒ underΒ Β and using company funds in the process.

As reported by KMOV, as customers showed up to shop Saturday, they were turned away and given a flier that directed them to the nearby locations.Β 

Best Buy's website states customers "currently doing business" with the closing stores are being contacted.Β Β 

On its website, Best Buy said it will work to help employees losing jobs to find other positions with Best Buy. Severance packages will also be available.Β 

Two stores already closedβ€”one in Kansas City, MO and another in Scotsdale, AZ. Another five were notified of closure in the Twin Cities and Austin, TX.

Three additional locations are expected to close later this summer, according to Best Buy.Β
