House sales are up in the St. Louis area in this first month of 2012, reported CBS St. Louis.

It may be the warmer weather was one notion—buyers are willing to go out and look. Others hope it's the economy inching upward.

Last week, Chesterfield Patch reported that a 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath house sold the first week on the market—during the second week of January.

December was also a month that St. Louis area house sales were better than the nation average, according to Coldwell-Banker Gundaker.
