The  will not  Tuesday afternoon or all day Wednesday. According to a MoDOT news release Monday, the brief cancellation is due the Indepenence Day holiday. (<a href="https://townandcountry-manchester.patch.com/newsletters" rel="nofollow">Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.</a>) Blasting and the approximately 15-minute lane closures are expected to resume Thursday. They take place in both directions of I-270 from Interstate 44 to Manchester Road. The road closes at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each weekday, to blast rock south of Dougherty Ferry Road. The closures are part of the . MoDOT urges drivers to use alternate routes and adjust travel times during the lane closures. "Motorists should avoid I-270 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays if possible," MoDOT previously stated in a news release. MoDOT has also increased signage around the work zones in an effort to make motorists more aware of the interstate closures and traffic delays.
