New Hyatt Hotel Reaches Eight Stories High
Construction on the hotel, located next to the existing Drury Plaza Hotel, is on track for an opening later this year.
The eight-story, 145-room Hyatt Place hotel on E. Chesterfield Parkway is starting to closely resemble what it will look like when completed.Β
The construction site hummed with activity Wednesday where the concrete shell of the building, visible from Highway 64, appears to be nearly completed. Chesterfield's Chief Planner Aimee Nassif said Drury Hotels is planning for an opening sometime in December 2013.Β
Its an effort several years in the making, with the original site plan approved by the planning commission in November 2011 and construction started in September 2012.Β

The appearance of another hotel right next to an existing once may initially raise some eyebrows, but the explaination is that the new Hyatt Place and the Drury Plaza are both owned by the same company, St. Louis-based Drury Hotels.Β
The two businesses will share parking lots and a restaurant.Β According to the St. Louis Business Journal, a second hotel was part of Drury's original plan for the spot and it will operate the Hyatt as a franchise.
