Patch National Editorial Director to Leave

Saying he perfers to "make things from scratch" Patch editorial director Brian Farnham announced Wednesday afternoon on a company-wide conference call that he was stepping down May 4.

Farnham said Patch was far beyond the "scratch" or startup phase of the company. The company said Farnham would join Patch's advisory board and potentially consult in other ways.

Patch lore has it that Farnham was one of a handful of guys that sat in a New York City office about four years ago, and brainstormed about what to name the notion of community websites—Patch.

AOL CEO Tim Armstrong had sold his version of Patch to AOL earlier, and subsequently was hired by AOL Media Group. Farnham was Patch hire No. 4.

Farnham did not list any specific plans post-May 4.
