Police: Chesterfield Man Bashed Partygoer with Liquor Bottle

37-year-old Alberto Mendiata has been charged with second degree assault.

A party at a residence in Chesterfield earlier this week turned violent after a man was hit in the head with a liquor bottle during a fight. 

Chesterfield Police have charged 37-year-old Alberto Mendiata, of Chesterfield, with second degree assault charges for swinging the bottle, which a police report described as a deadly weapon. 

Police said the victim of the attack suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released. 

The fight broke out earlier in the morning of July 22 at around 1:45 a.m. at a home in the 1500 block of Elk Ridge Lane. Police said the people involved in the scuffle all knew each other. 

Following the altercation, police said a 29-year-old male and a 37-year-old male at the same party were cited for peace disturbance violations.
