Family veterans and current soldiers will join Central Middle School students Friday for breakfast and arts, Parkway School District officials announced this week.
The special event, at which some 65 military personnel were expected, is part of Veterans Day celebrations. The traditional observance is Nov. 11βthe day the World War I armistice was signed in the "war to end all wars."
Breakfast begins at 8:45 a.m. and performances by the school choir, band, orchestra and drama crew start at 10 a.m. and lasts 40 minutes.
The entire eighth grade will join the celebration. Other Parkway District schools were also hosting Veterans Day observations.

"To us in America, the reflections of (Veterans) Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations." βU.S. President Woodrow Wilson on the first celebration in 1919 of what became Veterans Day, according to Wikipedia.
