2012 Tea Party Gathering Planned in Clayton

The Eureka-based St. Louis Tea Party Coalition formed three years ago.

The St. Louis Tea Party Coalition will host its 3rd Anniversary Tea Party this weekend at Clayton's Crowne Plaza St. Louis.

"It's been 3 years since we all met for the first time on the steps of the Arch," a calendar event posted to the website Eventbrite states. "We've become a major force in politics, and perhaps the most powerful faction in the Republican party. This weekend is all about winning!"

Events will include a presentation by Dr. Larry Schweikart, co-author of A Patriot's History of the United States; training sessions and an advanced blogging class; and networking.

The Eureka*-based group formed Feb. 27, 2009, with a focus on limited government, free markets and financial responsibility, the group's website states.

It's not the first time tea partyers have gathered in the city.

In 2010, Clayton played host to St. Louis Tax Day Tea Party. A YouTube video attached to this article shows excerpts from that event.

A representative of the organization could not immediately be reached for comment.
