Deadline is March 1 for Entries to Musical Theatre Competition 2012 in St. Louis

Entries for Musical Theatre Competition 2012 are being accepted through March 1 by The National Society of Arts and Letters Saint Louis Chapter.

The competition is open to people who will be between the ages of 18 and 29 as of May 18. Applicants must audition by presenting two contrasting songs from musical theater literature and a monologue, among other requirements. A PDF with complete competition rules may be downloaded from the group's website, along with an application form.

St. Louis auditions will happen from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Webster University's Community Music School Concert Hall.

The Saint Louis Chapter will present the following awards:

  • First place: $2,000 and an expenses-paid trip to El Paso, TX for the national competition May 18
  • Second place: $1,000
  • Third place: $750

Winners of the National Competition will be awarded up to $10,000.
