Bank Robbery Attempt Reported in Richmond Heights

The suspect in the weekend case—first announced by police on Tuesday—apparently had second thoughts and left without money.

A suspect is being sought after an attempted bank robbery that occurred over the weekend at Commerce Bank, 7910 Clayton Rd. in , police stated Tuesday afternoon in a news release.

It happened at 9:50 a.m. The perpetrator entered the bank, handed the teller a note indicating she had a gun and demanded money. Shortly afterward, the perpetrator "apparently … then became impatient," the release states. She took back the note and left the bank without any money.

The suspect is described as a black woman between 5-foot-2 and 5-foot-6. She weighed approximately 150 pounds and wore a dark gray jacket and white tennis shoes. She carried a purple purse.

No vehicle information was available as of Tuesday.
