The men & women of the CPD hope you each had a safe & happy Thanksgiving & to those celebrating, we wish you a joyful Hanukkah! Our thanks to the staff & residents at the newly opened Clarendale Clayton. They hosted their 1st Coffee With A Cop this morning & showed us around the property. We enjoyed meeting some of our newest residents & welcoming others back to the community. Now for your weekly police incident report. For the reporting period of Monday, November 22nd – Sunday, November 28th, CPD officers responded to 338 calls for service, including 7 automobile accidents & 18 calls to assist the CFD. Among those calls were the following incidents:

 A resident of the 800 block of S. Hanley contacted officers Monday afternoon after discovering the catalytic converter had been stolen from his vehicle. He believes the theft occurred sometime between Friday the 19th & Monday morning. 

 

While driving through Brentmoor Park Tuesday, a CPD officer witnessed a truck strike low-hanging wires in the alleyway. As the truck drove off, the cables were pried from their anchor points & damaged. Charter was notified of the damage.

 

A woman left her vehicle unlocked Tuesday evening as she was picking up her child from daycare. When she returned, she noticed her purse was missing. The suspect(s) later used her credit card to make nearly $4,000 in fraudulent purchases. This investigation is ongoing.

 

A traffic stop Wednesday afternoon led to the arrest of the driver for warrants out of Berkeley PD. Officers learned the driver was wanted for the felony charges of Domestic Assault 2nd degree, Burglary 1st degree & Property Damage 1st degree. The warrant was confirmed & the driver was arrested. Additionally, a handgun was located during an inventory search of the vehicle. The firearm was seized & held for safekeeping.

 

Officers responded to Walgreens for a reported theft Friday morning. While the cashier was distracted, a man walked behind the sales counter & stole approximately $700 worth of cigarettes. He is believed to have left in a silver sedan with heavy damage to its front right fender. An investigation is ongoing.

 

Friday night, officers responded to CVS to investigate a report of subjects shoplifting. The suspects, a man & a woman, ran from the store before officers arrived. Our thanks to the Richmond Heights PD for their assistance in apprehending the man on the Galleria property. He was found in possession of merchandise he confirmed was stolen from CVS. The items were returned to the store & management banned him from returning to the property. 

 

Officers learned he was wanted by Town & Country PD for the felony charge of Stealing $750 or More & Florissant PD for traffic violations. The warrants were confirmed & he was arrested. Additionally, he was charged with possession of a controlled substance when a search of his person revealed a plastic baggie of suspected heroin in his pocket. This report will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s office for consideration.

 

A man reported what began as a verbal argument with his ex-girlfriend turned violent Saturday morning as he drove into Clayton. After several failed tries to convince the woman to exit his car, the argument escalated & he attempted to contact the CPD for assistance. The woman disconnected the call & repeatedly hung up on dispatchers when they tried to call him back. As he drove toward the PD, the woman physically assaulted him, causing visible injuries. She was arrested by CPD officers & a warrant was authorized for her arrest for the charge of Domestic Assault 4th degree. She has an upcoming court date through the Clayton municipal court.

 

Officers responded to a local restaurant Sunday morning for a report of a peace disturbance. Witnesses reported a heated argument between two customers, a man & a woman, began when the woman tried to push past the man to exit the store. Before leaving, she threw her cup of coffee onto the man’s shirt & inadvertently struck the family standing behind him. Thankfully, no one was injured.

 

Finally, Sunday evening, a woman reported several of her personal documents, including a passport & vehicle title, were stolen from her home. She believes her ex-boyfriend is responsible for the theft.
