Clayton Art Series to Focus on Sight, Sound
The five-exhibition "Sound and Vision" opens Jan. 20 at the St. Louis Artists' Guild.
Sight, sound and perception will be the focus of the year's first exhibition series at the in .
Sound and Vision opens Jan. 20 and will run through March 17, the Guild announced last month in a news release. The series will be composed of five exhibits that explore the senses of sight and sound and the ways in which they affect artists' works.
The Guild is partnering on the series with VSA Missouri, which supports arts access for people who have disabilities.
Exhibitions to be featured are:
- "Speaking Volumes" — The artwork of Richard Meyers, who is hearing impaired, and of Susan Shie, who is visually impaired.
- "The Austerity Plan" — Prints and multimedia from Robert Goetz, the Guild's Fall 2011 Keyholder Artist-in-Residence.
- "On Another Note…" — An exploration of relationships between visual artmusic and sound.
- "Oh! You Pretty Things—Indie Music and Design" — A look at the do-it-yourself aesthetic and philosophy in St. Louis' music scene.
- "Sensation" — Pieces by students at the Missouri School for the Blind and the Central Institute for the Deaf.
