Clayton Bringing in Substitutes to Help School Transfers Influx
The school district says it was assess the situation a few weeks after school begins.

As school districts prepare to to welcome new students via school transfers, area institutions say they are ready and have enough staff on hand for the news students.
Clayton School District will be bringing in substitute teachers to fill classroom gaps with increased students. The school district's officials told KSDK about three weeks into the school year they will assess if they need to hire more full time teachers.
Many school districts in the St. Louis area are saying they will be getting anywhere from a handful to several hundred new students because of the transfers.
Superintendent Dr. Sharmon Wilkinson sent to Clayton parents and community members about the transfer process for students from unaccredited school districts and how the School District of Clayton is preparing for the start of the 2013-2014 school year. Here is an excerpt:
"Even though it will be another two weeks before we know exactly how many students have applied to transfer to Clayton, we are already adjusting our staffing plans for this upcoming school year and closely monitoring our enrollment and class size policies. We will be starting the year with two full-time, dedicated substitute teachers at each elementary school and Wydown Middle School to provide support as needed to our students and staff. At Clayton High School, we are adding an additional campus supervisor, increasing our math intern from half-time to full-time and reviewing our systems to ensure they are organized effectively to support the learning of all students. These staffing additions will provide the extra support we need to start the school year and to assess students to make sure they are positioned to maximize their learning for the upcoming year. Central Office Administrators and Principals will be meeting after Labor Day to review our staffing needs and make adjustments as needed to provide a rigorous academic experience for all of our students."
Wilkinson said the district would receive $19,800 as each transfer student's tuition.
