Police: Man Stole Percocet From Clayton Pharmacy

The man walked out of Walgreens with the prescription medication after a strange encounter with a clerk, court documents state.

A man was charged July 10 with stealing a Percocet prescription from a Clayton pharmacy.

James Romero Jr. dropped off a prescription for Percocet at the pharmacy at 6733 Clayton Rd. in March, a report from the states. He returned to pick up the prescription at 11:48 p.m. March 10, but his credit card was declined. He then tried to pay with a check that the clerk found suspicious, the report states.

When the clerk went to the office with the check, Romero took the medication and left without paying, police stated in court documents.

Romero, 41, of the 2200 block of Village Green Parkway in Chesterfield, was charged with stealing a controlled substance. Bond was set at $10,000.
