Police Captain Honored for Promotion in Richmond Heights [VIDEO]

Capt. Doug Schaeffler received recognition for his recent promotion with the during a ceremony Monday.

Schaeffler has served with the department since December 1988. He worked his way through the ranks starting as a patrol sergeant. He most recently worked as a sergeant and as the department's public information officer.

His new duties effective May 2 include working as the regular full-time accreditation manager.

Schaeffler's son, Nick, pinned a badge onto his uniform this week as part of the presentation at City Hall. It happened during a meeting of City Council.
