Police: Credit Card Stolen in Richmond Heights Used for iPad
It happened after a burglary on Warner Avenue.
are looking for at least one perpetrator in the case of a credit card stolen overnight from a house earlier this week.
The break-in happened late Monday or early Tuesday in the 7500 block of Warner Avenue, Sgt. Doug Schaeffler said. The perpetrator gained access to the first floor of house through an unlocked window as the members of the household—a husband, wife and baby—slept. Among other items, the perpetrator stole a purse containing a credit card.
While the card was used a few hours later to buy an iPad at a Walmart in south St. Louis County, it isn't clear whether it the perpetrator in the burglary is the same person who used the card, Schaeffler said.
Richmond Heights police waited until Thursday to release information to the public because surveillance footage captured at Walmart was being distributed to law enforcement, Schaeffler said. They wanted to learn whether other officials recognized the person suspected of using the stolen credit card.
It's possible other law enforcement recognized the man pictured, Schaeffler said.
The suspect is described as being a white male in his late teens to early 20s, a news release from the police states. He is between 5-feet-10-inches and 6 feet tall. It's possible the suspect is driving a white SUV or another large vehicle.
Schaeffler encouraged people to secure their windows at night, whether they're on the first or second floor of a house. He said stores carry devices that prevent windows from being opened more than 2 inches.
