Recreational Trail Agreement Approved in Clayton

Components of the Shaw Park project will include a garden and an adult fitness area.

A project agreement signed this week between the and the outlines expectations for the development of at .

The trail will add more than a mile of new trail surface to the park, a memo from City Manager Craig Owens states. A nature garden will be located at its northern end, and an adult fitness area will lie at its southern end.

Gifts totaling $277,500 have been donated or pledged for the project. Donors include , and .

The Clayton parks department is finalizing the design for the project, and bids are expected to be issued in June.

Construction is set to begin by Aug. 1 and to wrap up by March 1.

The new trail will be dedicated Sept. 30, 2013 in conjunction with Clayton's 100th birthday year.
