Richmond Heights Honors Beloved Neighbor with Street Sign

A number of Yale Avenue residents successfully petitioned the city to recognize their longtime friend.

Yale Avenue neighbors on Monday successfully got a section of their street named after a late friend.

An honorary street sign reading "Mike Green Way" will designate the section of Yale that runs from Oakland Avenue to Wise Avenue. Richmond Heights City Council adopted a resolution on the issue at its Monday night meeting at .

Green's friends . They initially asked that an alley be named after him and at the request of family.

Quoting from the resolution:

Whereas, Mike Green was a beloved, long-time resident of this Richmond Heights Yale Avenue neighborhood; and

Whereas, Mike Green strongly believed in community spirit; actively promoted healthy neighborhoods by supporting the idea of neighbor helping neighbor and encouraged his neighbors to know one another; and

Whereas, Mike Green brought these ideals to his neighborhood with his gentle chiding on neighborhood concerns and his efforts to see that the street was a safe place for the children, elders and all the residents.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of the City of Richmond Heights, Missouri, that the portion of Yale Avenue from Oakland Avenue to Wise Avenue be designated as 'Mike Green Way' in honor of Michael Green for his dedication to making his community and neighborhood a better place to live."
