Tornado Siren Tests Canceled This Week

Tornado siren tests planned this week have been postponed by the St. Louis County Office of Emergency Management because of inclement weather expected Wednesday and possibly later in the week.

The sirens are not tested when the weather is bad because people could be confused as to whether a siren is a test or an actual warning, said David Barney, director of the county’s Emergency Communications Commission.

County officials will announce the continued testing schedule Monday, weather permitting, Barney said. They plan to test 22 sirens in the 185-siren system.
