If you're heading for the Missouri-Toledo game in Columbia Saturday to catch a glimpse of former Parkway North standouts Donavin Newsom and Anthony Gatti, the Missouri Department of Transportation wants you to plan ahead, as the westbound I-64 Daniel Boone Bridge will be closed Saturday and Sunday for inspection.
The bridge will close at noon on Saturday, Sept. 7, and remain closed no later than 9 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8.
MoDOT warned motorists in a press release that there will be NO ACCESS across the river from St. Louis County westbound to St. Charles County during the inspections.
The eastbound I-64 bridge will, however, remain open for the weekend.
MoDOT outlined the following schedule for the closure:
- At approximately 10 a.m., Saturday, September 7, crews will start closing ramps in Chesterfield Valley to westbound I-64 and also installing all the traffic control and detour signs.
- At 11 a.m., crews will begin closing lanes between Boone’s Crossing and the bridge.
- All westbound I-64 will be closed at noon Saturday.
MoDOT advised motorists to use the other three Missouri River crossings: Interstate 70, Route 364 and Route 370.
"Motorists going to the University of Missouri football game in Columbia are advised to leave early Saturday morning if they wish to use I-64 before lane closures begin at 11 a.m. and the full closure starts at noon Saturday," the release said.
Kickoff at Faurot Field is slated for 2:30 p.m.
