Happy Fathers Day To All The Dads Out There

Paying tribute to all the Creve Coeur dads this Father's Day.

Today's the day we've officially carved out to give thanks to our dads. Like I've said before, we should do that more than one day a year.

What have you learned from your dad? We asked the question here in Creve Coeur, and wanted to see what people could tell us in a single sentence. Check out the responses and add your own!

I've written about my father before, how he worked his way up as the youngest of four kids to eventually prosecute a Soviet spy, before marrying his bride of more than 50 years and raising six kids. I was exposed to wonderful experiences and opportunities because of my parents. I love talking to dad about my adventures in journalism, his Michigan Wolverines, my Missouri Tigers and everything else going on in the world.

One new story I haven't shared here. I was in my first job out of college, in a small town in South Texas doing news and sports at a TV station. When the time came to move on, my dad flew down, rented a U-Haul and drove to help me clean out my apartment and move back to New York.

We incorporated some history into the trip, visiting the USS Kentucky battleship moored then near Corpus Christi. Our road trip included stops in Mississippi where we were mistaken for college football coaches on a recruiting trip, a tire change for me in Nashville after I ran over a nail and a traffic stop in Cincinnati after the U-Haul was apparently not allowed in a highway tunnel.
A few days later, we were back home and safe with a good story to tell for years to come.

God willing, I'm about to be a dad for the first time, which means Anthony Palermo is about to be a grandfather once more. I can't wait for my son to meet the man who helped shape his dad.
