In the last academic year, Missouri Baptist University opened a new on-campus residential complex and a new sports and recreation complex. By next spring, the school will have a new bookstore, with plans to build more residential housing within a year. Monday night, the school won Creve Coeur Planning and Zoning Commission approval to move forward with plans to build a 4,800 square-foot bookstore that will connect to the University's Jung-Kellogg Library. The University also gained approval to add 36 parking spaces along Dink Marler Drive. The approvals are part of a building boom seen on campus in recen years. Keith Ross, the school's Vice President for Institutional Advancement told Patch that within the next three to four years the University envisions a further remodeling of the area around the library that will see an attempt to fill space in the area in with more construction that sees the addition of more classrooms and a Welcome Center. Visually, the bookstore will look like the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex from the outside. Monday's actions do no require additional approval from Creve Coeur City Council. The addition of a next phase of residential housing will have to come back before city planners.
