More Parkway Budget Cuts Coming, District Seeks Public Input
As the Parkway School District plans to make an additional $2 to $4 million in cuts, it's inviting the public to January budget meetings to offer input.

Community members and parents can attend meetings in January to review a draft list of budget cuts.Β More cuts are necessary toΒ balance future budgets and restore fund balances to the required levels, the website stated.Β
"Based on current projections, Parkway needs to reduce an additional 1 to 2 percent ($2Β to $4 million) from the operating budget beginning with the 2013-14 school year," according to an update on Parkway's website.Β

The meetings will be held fromΒ 7 to 9 p.m. on the following dates.Β
- Jan. 14Β - North High
- Jan. 24Β - West High
- Jan. 28Β - South High
- Jan. 31Β β Central High
The site states that administrators and staff have been discussing areas where the district could possibly make cuts and a preliminaryΒ list has been presented to a district-wide budget team, whichΒ consists of teachers, administrators and support staff. The team will useΒ guiding principlesΒ to create a list of initial recommendationsΒ to present to Superintendent Keith Marty and the school board.Β
