The existing Allenton Bridge over double Union Pacific railroad tracks is in need of replacement due to its deteriorated condition and unacceptable geometry. It was built in 1928 as a four (4) span, cast-in-place concrete, deck girder bridge. The proposed replacement will be built adjacent to the existing bridge offsetting centerline of roadway approximately forty-two (42) feet to the west. The bridge deck will consist of a two (2) span steel plate girder bridge with two (2) lanes in the south direction and one (1) lane north that will transition to a straight and left-turn lane at the US Highway 66 intersection. The bridge will also accommodate an eight (8) foot wide pedestrian walkway protected by a barrier on the west side of the bridge deck. US Highway 66 will be shifted approximately fifty (50) feet to the north to allow for a more gradual transition into the intersection. On the south, a new at-grade crossing with updated signal arms will be built and the intersection of West Main Street and O'Sullivan Road will be shifted south to lengthen the storage lane before the crossing to meet current standards.
Maps, plats, and other detail information prepared by City of Eureka, will be available for public inspection and copying at The Timbers of Eureka during the Board of Aldermen meeting. Β Following are links to PDFs of the proposed bridge plans which have received preliminary Missouri Department of Transportation approval and an aerial overlay of the proposed structure. Β Written statements and exhibits as well as oral statements will be received at the hearing. Written statements and exhibits will be made a part of the public hearing transcript if received within ten (10) days after the date of the hearing.
