After nearly three years with the district, Borchers cut short his contract with Rockwood to accept a position with a Tennessee school district.

Thursday's meeting of the Rockwood Board of Education will be the last attended by Bruce Borchers in his capacity as the district's superintendent.Β Β
Hired in 2010, Borchers' received an extension to his original contract earlier this year, but in May, Patch broke the news that the Rockwood administrator was interviewing for a position with a district in Tennessee.Β
Shortly thereafter,Β Borchers was offered andΒ then accepted a position as the superintendent of the Oak Ridge School District. At that time, the districtΒ announced his last day would be Friday,Β June 7.Β
His short tenure has marked a tumultuous period for the school district with controversial findings from a state audit prompting the resignation of a school board member and the failure of the $38.4 million Proposition S.Β
Borchers will be replaced by former Wentzville Superintendent Terry Adams, who was appointed to fill the post an interim basis for one year at a salary of $250,000.Β
