Mosquito Spraying Begins in Wildwood

The city has contracted with St. Louis County to provide the service, which will occur Sunday nights after dark.

Ah, summer! Long days, baseball games, poolside loungingβ€”and the burning itch of mosquito bites.Β 

The city of Wildwood is combating the seasonal scourge through a weekly mosquito spraying. The sprays will take place every Sunday night after dark and the service is contracted through the St. Louis County Department of Health's Vector Control.Β 

The timing coincides with the periods when mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus is active. If you would like to be notified as to when St. Louis County Vector Control will be spraying, you may request to be added to their email notification atvector.doh@stlouisco.com.

You can also call 314-615-4BUG (4284) for a voice message about where Vector Control will be spraying that evening.

Authorities are also asking residents to do their part in reducing mosquito problems in their neighborhood. You can helpΒ by ensuring there is no standing water in pet bowls, kiddie pools, bird baths, outdoor toys, canoes or objects which may hold water. Standing water in these and other outdoor items provide an excellent breeding ground for mosquito larvae.

St. Louis County Vector Control is onlyΒ licensed to treat public lands and will notΒ go on to private property.
