Rockwood Hires New Administrators for 2013-14

The round of new hires are in positions at Lafayette High School and several area elementary schools.

TheΒ Rockwood School DistrictΒ has named a new associate principal and has brought up a new batch of administrative interns for the 2013-14 school year.

The hires were approved at a June 1 board of education meeting and involve several Eureka and Wildwood schools.Β Β 

Associate Principal of Lafayette High School - Dr. Karen Calcaterra
For the past six years, Calcaterra has served as an assistant principal at Parkway North High School.Β Β Prior to this, she served three years as an area coordinator for Special School District at Pattonville High School.Β Β She also served as a Special School District teacher for six years at Parkway North and at the Afton Lindbergh Early Childhood Center.Β Β Β

Dr. Calcaterra earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Lindenwood University, and both a master’s degree in Educational Administration and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University.

She replaces Dr. Nisha Patel who has been named Principal of Crestview Middle School.

Administrative Intern of Eureka Elementary School – Susan Johnson
For the last two years, Johnson has served as a literacy coach and reading specialist at Woerther Elementary School. Prior to that, she served Rockwood as an instructional coach for four years, a reading specialist for seven years and an elementary school teacher for nine years.Β Prior to joining Rockwood, she taught for two years in the Fort Osage School District.Β Β For the last two years, Johnson has also served as a reading consultant for the Ferguson-Florissant School District.

Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Administrative Intern of Pond Elementary School – Andrea Lockwood
Lockwood has served Rockwood as a teacher at Eureka Elementary for 11 years and as an instructional coach for one year.Β Β 

Lockwood earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In addition, she earned a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Southwest Baptist University.Β Β 

Administrative Intern of Ridge Meadows Elementary School - Nicholle SimmonsΒ 
Simmons joined Rockwood in 2007.Β Β Currently, she is serving as the administrative intern of Ridge Meadows as well as a principal for Rockwood Summer Academy.Β Β She has also served the district as an intervention specialist, a data analyst, an instructional coach, and an assistant principal.Β Β Β 

Prior to joining Rockwood, she served for three years as a principal in the Montgomery School District and two years as a principal in the Bowling Green School District.Β Β She began her teaching career as a middle school special education instructor and taught seven years in the Bowling Green School District.Β 

Simmons earned both a bachelor’s degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism and certification in K-12 Special Education at the University of Missouri – Columbia.Β Β She also earned both her master’s degree and specialist degree in Educational Administration from William Woods University.Β 

Administrative Intern of Westridge Elementary School - Megan MeierΒ 
For the last five years, Meier has served as a music teacher at Kehrs Mill Elementary School.Β Β 

She earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Music from Truman State University and a master’s degree in Teaching from Lindenwood University.Β Β She also earned an educational specialist degree from Webster University.Β
