Rockwood Lays Out Student Transfer Process
A recent State Supreme Court decision has school districts setting up policies to handle what could be an influx of student transfers from unaccredited districts.

Patch has previously reported on efforts by the Rockwood School district to react to and adjust to what could be a wave of student transfers into the district as a result of a State Supreme Court decision which allows students in unaccredited school districts to transfer. In St. Louis, the ruling allows students at Normandy and Riverview Gardens to transfer.
Now, Rockwood, along with other school districts working with Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis, is laying out particulars of how the transfer process will work.

All applications for transfers must begin at Normandy or Riverview Gardens, including applications from students who were in private or parochial schools for the 2012-2013 school year. Families should also be aware of the following:
- In order to qualify to send your student to an accredited district as a non-resident student, you must reside in an unaccredited school district. If the unaccredited district where you reside regains its accreditation, your child can remain in the receiving school district only until the end of the current school year, subject to the payment of tuition.
- If the unaccredited home district fails to timely pay tuition, then the student may be withdrawn from or not enrolled in the accredited school district.
- School assignments will be made once your child is enrolled in the receiving district.
- Transportation to and from the assigned school is the responsibility of the parent. Normandy has designated Francis Howell School District for transportation and Riverview Gardens has yet to designate its district for transportation.
- All students must comply with all rules, regulations and policies of the receiving school district.
- Safe Schools Act Affirmation should be submitted with your application.
- This approval will be valid for one school year. No exceptions to the deadline requirements will be made.
