Wildwood Hosting 24-hour 'Film Race' This Fall

Traditionally, putting together a movie seems like it’s an intense, time-consuming process, but an event coming to Wildwood this fall wants to fast-forward that notion by hosting a “film racing event.”

Called "Ready, Set, Film!" and open to pros and amateurs alike, the idea is to write, shoot and edit a short film in a 24-hour period of time.

At the end of this time frame, your film will be submitted to the judging panel, who will determine the top 10 finalists for viewing at a premier, where a 'People's Choice' award will be given.  The judges will select the top five films of the 10 finalists.

The entry fee for the contest, which will be held Sept. 20-21, is $35 per team. According to the city of Wildwood, it’s being put on as a precursor to their 2014 Art and Film Festival. Here’s the timeline for participants:

Friday, Sept. 20: Contestants will be provided the 'Theme, Prop, and Word or Action' that must be part of their short film.

Saturday, Sept. 21: All films must be submitted for judging.  Film judging will occur over the following three weeks.

Sunday, Oct. 13: The 10 films selected by the judges will be viewed at the B&B Theater from noon-5 p.m.  Viewers will make their selection for their favorite film to determine the 'People's Choice' Award.

Judging of all films will occur between Sept. 21 and Oct. 11.  Judges will select the top 10 films to be viewed at B&B Theaters on Oct. 13.  Viewers of the 10 films will select the winner of the People's Choice Award. 

Awards will be presented to the top five finalists in the event, based upon the judges' selection, as well as a People's Choice Award.
