Every town has its traditions. Check out these fun facts about what makes the Fenton-High Ridge area so special.

The Fenton-High Ridge area is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that the Fenton-High Ridge area has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.
A few things to know:
- Did you know that Fenton was once known as the City of Parks? Today, it's still a great place to enjoy the outdoors, with over 200 acres of parkland and trails. From hiking and biking to picnicking and fishing, there's something for everyone.
- The Meramec River, which runs through the Fenton-High Ridge area, is a popular spot for outdoor recreation. From fishing and boating to camping and hiking, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the natural beauty of the river and its surroundings.
- Fenton is known for its many annual festivals and events, including the Fenton Days Festival, the Rockwood Summit High School Craft Fair and the Fenton Street Fair. These events offer a fun and exciting way to experience the community and its many attractions.
- High Ridge is home to the Mastodon State Historic Site, which is a great place to learn about the prehistoric animals that once roamed the area. The site features a museum, hiking trails and a replica of a prehistoric village.
- The Fenton City Park, located in Fenton, is a great place to spend a day with the family. The park features a playground, basketball courts, picnic shelters and a fishing lake. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
- Fenton was named after William Lindsay Long (founder)’s Welsh grandmother, Elizabeth Fenton Bennett. Long was one of the founding fathers of the city and his contributions to the community are still felt to this day.
- Fenton Bar & Grill is a sports bar and grill located in Fenton. It’s known for the "Best Trashed Wing" and offers a full menu of homemade meals for lunch and dinner. The restaurant has an outdoor deck and a friendly staff, is open seven days a week and offers both dine-in and carry-out options.
- Fenton is known for its many locally-owned restaurants and shops. Visitors can find everything from classic American cuisine to international flavors and unique boutiques.
- High Ridge is home to Rockford Beach Park, a hidden gem for nature lovers. The park offers hiking trails, fishing ponds and picnic areas. It's a great place to spend a relaxing day with family and friends.
- High Ridge is home to Castlewood State Park, a beautiful park featuring hiking and mountain biking trails, picnic areas and breathtaking views of the Meramec River. It's a great place to spend a day exploring the outdoors.
- High Ridge is located near the famous Route 66, a historic highway that runs from Chicago to Los Angeles. There are several iconic Route 66 landmarks located near High Ridge, including the Chain of Rocks Bridge and Ted Drewes Frozen Custard.
- High Ridge is home to Old Time Finds. There are two stores located in the same plaza with over 107 vendors selling unique antiques, vintage items, collectibles and crafts. The "Big Store" is a 4,800-square-foot store that not only has vendor booths but also a workshop where classes are hosted. The "Small Store" is a 1,500-square-foot store where customers can search for their next find. Both stores are located in High Ridge.
