Through all of that, we are so happy to share that Rob has come so far in his recovery and rehabilitation that he recently made a trip in to see the security team and we were absolutely in awe of the remarkable progress he has made.

One early morning in late October, Officer Schwartzman, a security guard at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital was investigating a suspicious car that was driving around the hospital. Suddenly, a man who was driving the car hit Officer Schwartzman, knocking him to the ground. Officer Schwartzman was taken to the hospital in critical, unstable condition. Physicians didn’t know if he would survive the horrendous incident. However, Officer Schwartzman has defied the odds – making a remarkable recovery.

We cannot thank the teams that were there that evening for the life-saving work that they performed. Due to the swift action of the teams at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, Officer Schwartzman is here with us today. Since his time spent recovering at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, he has made many leaps in his progress – moving from the hospital to a long-term acute care hospital, then to Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago, where he underwent intensive neuro, physical, occupational and speech rehabilitation.

He has since been discharged and is at home but continues to undergo outpatient rehabilitation daily. He has progressed so far that he walked into the hospital to visit using only a walker! While there are still more steps in his recovery, Officer Schwartzman overcoming all odds and encompassing the meaning behind #GlennonStrong.

Please continue to send your thoughts, prayers and support to Officer Rob Schwartzman and his family!
