Ferguson-Florissant Superintendent Joins AT&T for Don't Text and Drive Campaign

Students in Ferguson-Florissant are being asked to pledge to not text and drive for No Text on Board Pledge Day.

 

Sept. 19 marks the inaugural No Text on Board Pledge Day.

Tuesday, the St. Louis County Council passed a resolution making Wednesday, "No Text on Board Pledge Day." Council Chairman Mike O'Mara, D-Florissant, pointed out that a number of representatives will be visiting schools throghout the day, including Ferguson-Florissant.

According to the Ferguson-Florissant Facebook page, Ferguson-Florissant Superintendent Art McCoy, Attorney General Chris Koster and AT&T President John Sondag will be at McCluer North High School Wednesday morning to accept pledges from students.

The National Safety Council reports more than 100,000 accidents occur each year involving texting and driving. A survey conducted by AT&T shows 75 percent of teens polled say texting and driving is "common" among their peers.
