Flick and Float, Smash Band Provide Weekend Fun

Weβre running down five places or events happening in Florissant and North County this weekend for you and the family.- What do you get when you combine water and a movie? The Flick and Float, which is also known as the βdive-inβ movie will take place Friday at Koch Family Aquatic Center. Swimmers will be treated to βDolphin Tale,β while slipping and sliding down the parkβs slides or floating around the river. The event begins at 8:15 p.m.
- For a good time and some fun tunes, Smash Band will liven up St. Ferdinand Park Saturday for Florissantβs Music Under the Stars series. The band bills itself as βplaying music for party people.β The concert begins at 7 p.m.
- The circus has come to town, and it has a lot of soul. The Universoul Circus will be hosting a number of shows throughout the weekend in North St. Louis County at Jamestown Mall. From elephants to tigers to straps aerialist, the show has the makings to entertain and fascinate children and their parents the entire time. For showtimes and tickets, check out Ticketmaster.
- If you want to take the family in a bit of a controlled environment, then the City of Florissant might have the perfect setting. The Parks and Recreation Department will host, βSunset Park Camping and Movieβ at Sunset Park. Families will be able to make sβmores, watch a movie and bond. Β Camping takes place Sunday, 6 p.m. until 8 a.m. Monday. The movie begins at dusk. Registration is required, and you can contact the Parks Department for more information at 314-921-4466.
- The North County Catholic Youth Council and City of Florissant have partnered to host the CYCΒ baseball playoffs. Sacred Heart and St. Peters-Kirkwood will face off Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Koch Park, Field No. 1. St. Catherine Laboure takes on St. Francis Assisi plays on the same field at 8 p.m. The public is invited and free.
