The Darkness Haunted House Scares Up Folks For Its 19th Year
The haunted house in Soulard has a national reputation for its attention to detail, and yes, it's scary.
If you're a fan of zombies in your face, nightmare clowns and dismembered heads you probably already know aboutΒ The Darkness. Itβs been in St. Louis for 19 years.
General manager Jeremy Tucker works all year changing the sets. He said theyΒ do a 70 percent change each season.
βThis year, Iβm trying to get the actors more involved in the sets,β he said. βFifty actors. Itβs a handful. Itβs like the Brady Bunch family times five.β

Tucker said he loves this time of year.
βThis is what I live for,β he said. βI love seeing everybody having a good time, laughing for getting scared, as long as theyβre having a good time.β

Itβs a 30-45 minute journey through the multiple floors and themes. As you pass by monks with stitched scalps and mad scientists surrounded by body parts you never know where the next scream will come from.
βTwo floors, takes a little time. Really good scares, really good scares,β Tucker said. βYou come out here you will get scared. Iβll promise you that.β
